From The Midlands To The Mallee

From The Midlands To The Mallee. The history of the Heath family in Australia is a new book compiled and edited by Don Heath from Camberwell, Australia. This book tells the story of the descendants of Robert Heath born 1856 and the younger brother to my wife's great grandmother Rachel Heath wife of Enoch Brown. The book is a fantastic read and a must for any Heath researcher and a great keepsake.

For me this fills the gaps left when I failed to find Robert and it all started by a chance meeting in Horton Churchyard several years ago. Late one afternoon while taking photographs in the churchyard and startled by a sudden noise and seeing no one I decided take a look around to try and find the source, it turned out to be Basil Heath digging a new grave, after introducing myself and telling him of my interest in the Heath family.

Basil told me about a family that had contacted him and were interested in the Heaths of Horton and mentioned the names Cain and Able, the family had been visiting from Australia and he had an address for them. I called and collected the address a few days later and wrote them a letter the rest is history.

Many emails have passed between Australia and the UK to confirm the research information that Melanie Myatt, Denise Johnson, Mark Heath and myself had amassed on the Horton line prior to print. The result from all that hard work by Don has resulted in a great book on the Heaths

Don't be surprised if at sometime in the near future there is a book about the Heaths that stayed in Horton and surrounding areas, I know that Mark has wanted to do such a book and thanks to Don and Robert it has him all fired up. It's just a matter of time.

Don has just had ten more copies printed and they are available to order. I will have to let you know the costs as the production cost has increased and postage to the UK is quite expensive. I will try to get an exact price per copy including postage as soon as I can.
